The Bristol Stool Chart
I couldn’t make this up, nor do I remember how I managed to find this. Of course this is a serous medical guide, but I’m childish. I present to you the Bristol Stool Chart:

Justifying another toy
I bought a new Garmin 760 a while back for some of its cool features: text to speech, bluetooth, etc. But one feature I really didn’t care much about was the FM based traffic service. It came pre-loaded with a free trial and was running all along. Today was the first time I ever saw it do its thing. I was driving and decided to plot my destination (which was well known). To my surprise it had me going on a detour via Lakshore instead of the Gardiner Expwy, and up popped a little yellow icon indicating a delay.
As I got closer to the problem spot, it was indicated on the map and sure enough there was something going on in that very spot, but I couldn’t tell exactly what it was as I was zipping along on my detour route on Lakeshore. Â A few KM’s later, it had me turn off of Lakeshore and enter the highway after the problem. Traffic was still a little heavier than I would have liked, but nowhere near as bad as what I had missed. Â Overall, I was impressed. I’m not sure if I would use it enough to pay for a subscription when the trial runs out, but I have another lengthy rush hour drive to take tomorrow so my opinion may change.
Here a screenshot of the regular map program showing the :01 minute delay (yeah right):
Â
Here is a screenshot showing the delay and the option to avoid it (which it did for me automatically):
Â
I realize this may be old technology to some people, but it was my first encounter with traffic based navigation services and I was impressed.

Too many toys
I found this pretty funny because as I was watching, I was looking around and all of the toys I have accumulated over time. Very good co-ordination on this, check it out:

Real MMS on the iPhone
Just stumbled on SwirlyMMS on Cydia and got it working on my iPhone 3G on Rogers. Once I found all of the correct MMS settings, everything works great. This isn’t like the other MMS apps, where you send a message and the recipient gets an SMS with a link to download a picture. This sends and receives MMS messages natively.
For anyone on Rogers, the settings below worked for me. You will need a jailbroken iPhone and Cydia to install this app though.
Part of the MMSC got chopped off so here are all the settings:
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Proxy: 172.25.0.107
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
I had to give it a minute or two, until it connected to the gateway. Note the “m” in the top corner by the battery guage. From what I can tell if it is bright green it is connected to the MMS gateway, and dark green if it cannot conenct.
And here is an example of a received MMS message:
I have been able to send and receive MMS messages between my iPhone and Blackberry with no problems since setting this up. SwirlyMMS offers a 14 day trial and costs $8 to buy after the trial. I think this is more than worth the $8!! I now have one more reason to justify jailbreaking my iPhone.

Jailbroken
Just one day after the iPhone 2.1 firmware release from apple it is already possible to jailbreak thanks to PwnageTool.
I am now enjoying the stability of 2.1 with the added features of being able to record video, have a local shell, add themes, ssh into my phone.

Here is an awesome video take on Mario done by Seth MacFarlane for Burger King. This is the way Mario should have been all along:

Another reason I like the iPhone
Like I need any more reasons to justify getting the iPhone, but there is another. Â It’s one thing to use it as an iPod on the commute home with the music you have synced from iTunes, but quite another to stream live Internet radio while on the go.
Below is a screenshot I took while walking home yesterday and streaming DI.fm with the Tuner app. Not a single interruption the whole way. Â I’ve also streamed music in the car while driving across the city with no interruptions. I’ve gotta admin, Rogers did something right with their 3G network. It’s been flawless and impressive for me so far.
